Janet Mathew, one of our FDLT UN Year 1 students, has written this advice for you as you prepare to begin the course. There is some more advice from our current students on the ‘advice’ page above.
I completely agree with Janet’s advice. I am a former FDLT and BALT student and really enjoyed my studies. It is hard work but there is a great support network available from the lecturers and fellow students.
I made some great friends throughout my studies and we were able to support and encourage each other. Many of us have remained very close and we have continued to support each other throughout our teacher training year. We all agreed that the FDLT/BALT studies have been really valuable to our success throughout our teacher training year.
Some advice would be to make good use of the reading lists and make notes of quotes and references as you go along. This approach will be very useful when it comes to writing assignments!
I wish you all the best.

Glad you have enjoyed it. I can’t wait to get started although I do feel a bit nervous about managing to fit in all the work :))))
