Media Day 2: 24.02.14

Another successful media day was hosted by the Stem to SteAm team and Leon Cych on the 28th February at the University of Northampton. Students and teachers from across the county joined together to explore ways of enhancing their filming techniques. Innovation came in many forms with participants exploring how different apps and programs like path on swipe to type, qr codes, thing link and animation software could be embedded and explored within film editing tools like iMovie to enhance digital and art pedagogy in the classroom! The learning taking place was astounding….

Media day at the University of Northampton on PhotoPeach:

The group explored skills such as iPad apps for filming and editing, sound recording and green-screening, and then used them to make short films describing aspects of their practice and pedagogy. The films will be broadcast on the new L4L Web TV channel (tv.l4l.co.uk), the first of its kind, ‘by teachers for teachers’ with the aim of sharing practice and providing an online source of professional development. A student volunteer team of Digital Leaders will follow up with media workshops for children in schools using a set of equipment provided by our sponsors Rising Stars.

This was the first of several free media days. Contact helen.caldwell@northampton if you would like to come to the next one.
