Projects and Initiatives

The Learning and Teaching Enhancement team leads and facilitates projects and initiatives throughout the academic year. These projects are a combination of student led and staff led initiatives and more information can be found below.

Action Learning Set

The Learning and Teaching Enhancement team currently run several Action Learning Sets to support and enhance the learning and teaching practice of colleagues at the University of Northampton.
What is an Action Learning Set (ALS)? An ALS is where a group of people meet regularly to discuss a topic, challenge or premise. The timings, frequency, duration, longevity and location of meetings is decided by the members of the ALS at the first meeting.
How can I join or initiate an Action Learning Set (ALS)? LTE currently facilitates several ALS including Associate Professors in Learning and Teaching, National Teaching Fellowship Candidates and Union Black participants. If you would like to join an ALS or have an idea for a new set please get in touch: LTE@northampton.ac.uk

Writing Retreats

Learning and Teaching Enhancement team host a regular writing retreat whereby colleagues can come together to write. These retreats vary in length from a couple of hours to full days and are delivered in a hybrid format – face-to-face and online. Anyone can attend the Writing Retreats. Details can be found on the Events page or email: LTE@northampton.ac.uk

Communities of Practice

The communities of practice (CoPs) focus on Learning and Teaching at the University of Northampton. Current groups include: Post Graduate (for colleagues teaching on PG taught programmes) and Programme Leaders (for colleagues leading programmes both UG and PG). CoPs are valuable forums for colleagues to share good practice and seek shared solutions to challenges. If you would like to join a CoP or suggest a new CoP, please get in touch: LTE@northampton.ac.uk
