Meeting students’ needs as a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT)

A variety of professional development workshops and sessions are offered to staff as part of the Academic and Professional Practice Scheme. You can find out when workshops and sessions are running through LibCal, the portal for all professional development activity.

Staff undertaking a PAT role.
Relevant to Descriptor 1, Descriptor 2 and Descriptor 3 of the PSF 2023.

Aims:

This session will enable participants to:

  • explore the needs that students have at different stages of their study programme, and the pressures they experience that can affect their work;
  • discuss with others the ways in which PATs can help to meet student needs, and the contribution that other support services can make;
  • engage in practical activities to think about planning appropriate student support throughout the year;
  • discuss the information available through MyEngagement and how you can make use of this to support students where they are having difficulties.
