How to Submit Your Application

Through the Academic and Professional Practice Scheme, staff at UON can develop an application for Associate Fellow, Fellow or Senior Fellow through the experiential route or by participating in one of the pathways. Through this process, staff have the commitment of a critical friend for Fellowship, who is usually working within the same faculty or unit as the participant.

Steps to submit an application

To submit an application for Associate Fellowship, Fellowship or Senior Fellowship through the Academic and Professional Practice Scheme at UON, please follow these steps:
1. Arrange a final check of your application by your critical friend for Fellowship.
2. Please obtain supporting statements to accompany your application and ensure these are signed and dated before you submit (please refer to the relevant applicant guidance for the number of supporting statements you need).
3. In advance to submitting, request access to the NILE Organisation called ‘Fellowship Panel Submission’ by sending an email to LTE@northampton.ac.uk and include your username.
4. Once you have been given access, you can submit your application any time throughout the year.
5. In the case of an oral assessment, following the submission of your Reflective Record of Practice, a member of the Academic Practice team will be in touch with you to arrange a date and time for your presentation meeting, which will involve assessors.

The review process
Your application for Associate Fellowship, Fellowship or Senior Fellowship can be made at any time during the year. The time it will take to review your application will depend on the dates of our Fellowship Panel meetings. We usually hold Panel meetings three times during the year (November, March and July). You will therefore be notified about the outcome of your application usually within 12 weeks.

Academic integrity and misconduct

An application for a category of Fellowship is subject to the institutional regulations regarding academic integrity and academic misconduct (i.e. Academic Integrity and Misconduct Policy).

In developing an application for a category of Fellowship (written assessment or oral assessment), generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is only permitted for the following uses:

  • Checking spelling, punctuation and grammar.
  • Researching or finding sources.
  • Audio-transcription.
