Experiential Route
The experiential route in the Academic and Professional Practice Scheme involves participants in the following process:
- Taking part in the Introduction to Fellowship session or Intensive Fellowship workshop. In advance of this workshop, participants complete the Advance HE Fellowship Category Tool to help determine the Fellowship category for them.
- Reading the applicant guidance for the relevant category of Fellowship.
- Meeting with a critical friend for Fellowship.
- Participation in professional development workshops depending on prior experience and requirements.
- Engaging in peer observation of learning and teaching (relevant in applying for Associate Fellowship or Fellowship).

Staff experience
Roles may include associate lecturers, postgraduate research students, lecturers, learning technologists, librarians, technical demonstrators, employability advisers.

Fellowship category
Experienced academic or professional services staff, which may include lecturers, senior lecturers, learning technologists, librarians, learner support tutors, programme leaders, for example.
