CyGen can help children and young people (CYP) everywhere to enjoy using the Internet safely. CyGen is short for ‘Cybersafe Generation’. CYP aged 8-14 years have designed CyGen project activities with their teachers, parents and people who work in universities. Sharing ideas and working together is the CyGen way of working – it helps CYP to learn to be citizens who live a good life.
By working together, the CyGen team has:
- Found out what helps children and young people to use the Internet safely – and what can cause problems.
- Used children’s and young people’s ideas to create the CyGen programme - a great multimedia education programme that can help everyone to use the Internet safely, wherever they live.
- Designed ways to help teachers to work with children and young people to help them to get the most out of the CyGen programme
- Tested the CyGen programme to be sure it can help CYP to stay safe and enjoy making the most of the Internet
