Class Blogs

With the “My Class” feature, you can assign a site where students can connect their blogs, this will allow you to view the sites from one location and prevent editing of the site at a chosen time.

Steps to create a ‘My Class’ site.

  1. Create a new blank site from the ‘My Sites’ area and give it the address ‘ModuleCode+YR+Class’ eg. ‘med100424class’ (no spaces, capitals or characters)
  2. In the new site, click on ‘My Class in the dashboard menu and choose ‘Create a Class’

  3. In the ‘MyClass’ options tick the box titled ‘This is a classblog’, set privacy to ‘Only registered users of this site can view it’ and tick the student permissions.
  4. Copy the unique part of your URL (example highlighted here in bold) mypad.northampton.ac.uk/med100424class
  5. Invite your students to join by directing them to join your class blog by following the steps in this guide: https://mypad.northampton.ac.uk/wordpresstraining/joining-a-class-blog/
    please note, you will need to accept sites that have joined in the MyClass area in order to view them.

 

Locking the Classblog

  1. To lock the class blog go into ‘MyClass’ and select Settings:

  2. In the settings menu, untick all of the student permissions.

Presenting info on the classblog

As the ClassBlog is viewable by students you may wish to edit it so that it has some content, for guidance on this please see the other pages of this guide.

Adding additional lecturer

Each tutor will need the role ‘teacher’ to view the blogs attached to My Class, you can add a tutor using their email address in the ‘Users’ area and change their role to ‘teacher’.
