Award close

Research integrity is important at the final stages of the project: the principle investigator (PI) must ensure that datasets are submitted, research outputs are uploaded to Pure, and financial information is checked and verified before submission. It is also advisable to review the funding agreement to understand how your research can be used in the future, for example the rights to the research data or how the intellectual property is shared.

Grant funders require certain reports to ‘close out’ an award. Therefore, there are important considerations to make sure the project gets to properly ‘close out’. The procedure can change depending on the policies of the sponsoring funding agency and whether the support was in the form of a grant or contract: areas to review are the data management, open access and intellectual property (IP) requirements.
