Steve and Sarah’s Phonics sort

This task is using Smart Notebook, and it involves sorting pictures into the correct grapheme. All the pictures have the same phoneme, the /ai/ sound. It would be important to say what the picture is, so that children are sorting the correct words. When all the words have been sorted, the class can check to see if they have organised the pictures correctly. This activity could also be used with different graphemes, or by sorting words instead of pictures. To differentiate the activity, children could invent their own words or pictures and sort them appropriately, instead of being provided with the words.
