1. Half day workshop on remanufacturing/repair/reuse and single use in the healthcare sector

This half-day workshop which is sponsored by Grundon Waste Management Ltd, will focus on the remanufacturing/repair/reuse of bulky items, as well as the effective management of single use items in healthcare facilities. There will be short presentations from Alan Armstrong from Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and Karl Sheehan from Sharpsmart. Following the presentations, there will be the opportunity for discussion and the sharing of information. These discussions will be facilitated by Anne Woolridge and Maria Mahon. A light lunch will be served at the end.

2. Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships provide the opportunity for companies to provide long term training focused on making real changes to how individuals perform at work. Recent changes to apprenticeships and the introduction of a levy, paid by all organisations in the UK with a wage bill of more than £3m, has generated greater interest in apprenticeships than ever before.

3. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) schemes link businesses with a university and a graduate to work on a specific project, which will enable businesses to grow and be innovative. The goal is to transfer expert know-how and skills into the company, and provide new challenges and ideas to the University.

The University of Northampton has access to the expertise and funding to support KTPs.
