Steve is a part time Senior Lecturer in Education and joined the University of Northampton in 2017 following 18 years as a primary headteacher. He also works as a freelance Education Consultant. Having begun his teaching career in 1988 as a primary music specialist, Steve has developed and led many curriculum initiatives across the primary age range.
Steve is a member of the Initial Teacher Training team and is subject leader for primary music and modern foreign languages. He currently teaches on the wider curriculum and expertise modules.
Steve has also worked for Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust as a guitar and strings teacher and choir director.
Steve’s research interests include the benefits of the Arts on primary pupils’ engagement, enjoyment, progress and achievement and the effects of second language acquisition on children’s first language development.
