On the 4th of May, the University of Northampton held its Psychology Research Conference where both students and academics at the university were invited to present their work. This was the first in-person conference since the COVID lockdowns. The conference began with an inspiring opening talk about the research centre and the importance of research in psychology from Professor Chris Roe. As well as an informative and insightful keynote speech from external guest speaker Dr Vicky McGowan, Aliyyah Jabeen, Dr Karishma Jivraj, Amy Walsh, Amy Brennan, Claire Harrison-Breed, Dr Kimberley Hill, Amber Rosen, Jennifer Young, Carey Allen, Ben Finn and Tom Sanderson all provided oral presentations on their incredibly impactful research and Roxana Teleanu, Molisha Austerberry, Anya Williams and Chloe Thompson provided poster presentations.
The oral and poster presentation prize winners were Tom Sanderson for his research into how friendships are formed and Roxana Teleanu for her research on the effects of employment on mental health and academic performance in UK undergraduate students.
