Student Achievements

John L. Randall Memorial Award

The Award is given for the highest grade achieved in the ‘Parapsychology & Anomalous Experiences’ module, and this year we are happy to announce our joint awardees Jodie McDonald and Molisha Austerberry. Both Jodie and Molisha scored the highest grade. Looking at their critical essays, both presented exceptional work. With Jodie writing on whether fraudulent mediums cause more harm than good, while Molisha assessed the usefulness of dream ESP experiences and empirical data. They were considered equally worthy of the award, which comes with a book prize.

John L. Randall was a biologist and science teacher from Leamington Spa. He was a long time member of the Society for Psychical Research and author of such books as ‘Parapsychology and the Nature of Life’ and ‘Psychokinesis’.

John was a regular attendee of UON’s CSAPP team meetings between 2008-2010 – the research group in psychology now named ‘Exceptional Experiences and Consciousness Studies’. He enjoyed meeting new researchers, especially new aspiring students to parapsychology. John’s family were delighted to support an award in his name for excellence in parapsychology through undergraduate studies. He would have enjoyed meeting such students in person at graduation to congratulate them on their work and critical thinking.
