1. Workshop on circular economy and sustainable procurement models

2. Home care provider Allied Healthcare saved from bankruptcy

One of the largest home care providers in the UK has been sold two weeks after it announced it was selling or transferring all of its contracts after regulators reported it was on the brink of bankruptcy.

Allied Healthcare, which provided over 13,000 elderly and vulnerable people with care in their own homes across 150 local authorities, has been bought by Health Care Resourcing Group (HCRG) for an undisclosed fee.

However, many local authorities who used Allied Healthcare have already arranged for their adult social care services to be transferred to other providers or even house, after it was revealed that the home care provider was unable to confirm funding past November.

3. Horizon 2020: Horizon Prize – Low Carbon Energy Inducement Prizes 2016: Low Carbon Hospital (H2020-LCE-PRIZES-2016-01)

This inducement prize will reward a hospital that has an innovative and within its premises perfectly integrated combined heat and power (CHP) installation. This installation has to use at least three different European renewable energy technologies, include energy storage component(s) and be able to provide 100% of hospital’s annual needs for energy consumption. In this context any renewable energy source is allowed.

4. Tender for the supply of clinical waste containers: NHS SUPPLY CHAIN

NHS Supply Chain seeks to establish a non-exclusive Framework Agreement for supply to NHS Supply Chain depots via the Stock/E-Direct routes. The Framework Agreement is for the supply of Clinical Waste Container Products including but may not be limited to:

– clinical waste containers,

– sharps containers,

– board based containers and holders for contaminated swabs.

It is anticipated that in the first 24 months of the Framework Agreement the value of purchases will be circa 27 792 866,00 GBP however this is approximate only. The figures for the total estimated value are based on that initial expenditure and include a forecast for growth.

5. WSCC DR: Clinical & Offensive Waste Collection, Support, Treatment and Disposal Services

The Council is seeking a Service Provider to provide Clinical and Offensive Waste Collection, Support, Treatment and Disposal services across the County of West Sussex. The Council wishes to let a Framework Agreement for a period of 4 years and an initial Call Off Contract from this Framework Agreement for a period of three years with the option to extend by a further 3 years up to a maximum term of 6 years.

The Service Provider shall provide a comprehensive domestic and commercial Clinical and Offensive Waste collection service for the Contracting Authority. This will include all aspects of the Collection and Support Services, including the administration of the collections, the collection of the Clinical and Offensive Waste from customers and the transportation of the Clinical and Offensive Waste to the relevant Delivery Point(s) in order that it can be treated and disposed of.

The Service Provider will also be responsible for the treatment and disposal of domestic Offensive & Clinical Waste which is collected by the seven Waste Collection Authorities (WCAs), or by third party contractors on behalf of the WCAs.
