Dear Students,
Welcome (or welcome back) to the School of Psychology and the new 2025-2026 Academic year! We hope you are excited!
As we embark on a new academic year, we are excited to announce a series of engaging events for our students in September, October, and November.
These events are designed to foster community, provide opportunities for learning and growth, and ensure that everyone has a fantastic time.
From social gatherings and traditional fêtes to intellectual debates and educational field trips, there is something for everyone.
We look forward to seeing you at these events and making this first semester of the academic year memorable together.
Welcome Week Social
- Date: 23rd September
- Location: Leather Sellers Hide – Kick off the academic year with the School of Psychology’s Welcome Week Social! It’s a great opportunity to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.
Summer Fête
- Date: 26th September
- Location: Engine Shed 11am – 2pm – Join the us for a traditional British village fête right on campus. Expect classic games, sweet treats, and plenty of feel-good vibes.
Park Run
- Date: Monthly, our First run will be on 27th September – Stay active and join us for our monthly Park Run. It’s a fantastic way to keep fit and enjoy the outdoors!
Big SU Festival
- Date: 1st October 5pm – Late!
- Location: Engine Shed, ES Lawn, and Car Park 2 – The biggest Welcome Week event is here! Enjoy fairground rides, food trucks, and non-stop music. Don’t miss out on this highlight of the week.
Faculty Fair
- Date: 3rd October 12 – 4pm.
- Location: Engine Shed – Discover the fantastic work of our faculties through a mix of fun and interactive activities. This event is an excellent introduction to university life.
Halloween Dress Up
- Date: 31st October – Get ready for a spooky celebration! Dress up in your best Halloween costume and join us in raising some money for a good cause. More information to be shared on the course NILE site soon!
Field Trip to London Exhibitions
- Date: 5th November – Come with us to Explore the Science and Natural History Museums in London. This field trip promises to be both educational and entertaining.
Debate: Is Behaviourism the Most Valid School of Thought to Explain Behaviour?
- Date: November
- Location: Engine Shed/Leather Sellers Hide (TBD) Join Dr Matthew Hopkins and Dr Graham Smith as they debate this intriguing topic. It’s a great opportunity to engage in intellectual discussion and broaden your horizon’s.
