*Update March 2024: we are currently recruiting schools for our evaluation of ‘Our Class’. If you are using (or planning to use) the Our Class materials, please contact us to join the evaluation and help us to capture the effectiveness and impact of these materials.*
We are seeking input from schools, teachers, parents and children to provide feedback on the ‘Our Class’ resources. We want the materials to be ‘evidence-based’ – which means that there is evidence for their effectiveness. This work is very important. We really hope that they will have a beneficial impact within schools, and for children, and would welcome your help to try out the resources we have developed.
We are calling this a ‘Community-enabled project’ to reflect the fact that we are seeking input from various members of the community to help develop and refine the resources.
Although similar to the idea of crowdsourcing where organisations outsource specific tasks/functions to a large undefined (online) network of people, we are seeking a more targeted group of individuals who meet specific criteria and are willing to share their ideas and experience with us. It is community-enabled because we are harnessing the willingness of community members to contribute their time in a voluntary capacity, rather than crowdfunding where people are asked to support particular initiatives financially.
We are particularly looking for help from:
- qualified primary school teachers with experience of teaching Key Stage 2-aged children in the UK
- professionals currently working in an educationally-related role that involves leading/facilitating/delivering sessions to children between the ages of 7 and 11 on pastoral matters in the UK
- parents/carers of children currently aged 7-11 attending a primary school in the UK
- primary schools who would like to get involved in the pilot of these resources
What are the benefits?
The benefits of getting involved are that you will have the opportunity to shape the ongoing development of educational resources that could be used by teachers and educational professionals to teach children about friendships and peer relationships. You also gain free access to the resources and can use them with your students/children as appropriate.
