Is your school celebrating World Book Day on 7th March – find lots of resources to help you

The 22nd World Book Day is on 7th March 2019; the aim is that children of all ages can come together in a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) a celebration of reading. World Book day is marked in over 100 countries and recognised by UNESCO.

‘The main aim of World Book Day in the UK and Ireland is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own’ – look out for the book tokens arriving in your school (including the nurseries and secondary schools that have registered to participate)- do make sure your pupils know which local shops they can use them in. There will be 10 books to choose from or pupils can use their token towards the cost of any book costing over £2.99.

The World Book Day website has a great range of resources and teaching guides for every age group which you can access here.
