What happened to the Review of professional teaching assistant standards?

A report by Sophie Scott in Schools Week, October 15th 2015, explains the background to the review of professional standards for teaching assistants which was launched a year ago with the outcomes due for release in February 2015. The latest decision by Nicky Morgan, Secretary for State in Education, appears to be that these will not now be published

The report in Schools Week includes very interesting detail and quotes from key people who were part of the review panel and Rob Webster, who worked on the guidance document for schools, already identified on this site: Making Best Use of Teaching Assistants, published on February 27 by the Education Endowment Foundation.

There is also a link to the leaked draft document created by the review in February 2015.

This is all well worth a look so do follow the embedded links.  It is just a shame that the report is not able to present more positive news on the Government’s stance.

question mark
