Congratulations to our 2019 EM HLTA of the Year – Carl Perry

The University of Northampton hosted the presentation event for the East Midlands region in Leicester on 20th June 2019.

Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) from across the East Midlands region have been nominated by their schools. A panel of education professionals from a range of settings and NAP board members within the region confirmed the exceptional qualities of the nominated candidates, but did narrow this down to a short list of 4 with the winner announced at the presentation event.

Consideration was given to evidence associated with: their contribution to advancing pupils’ learning utilising their own specialist knowledge; their high aspirations for all pupils and their support in achieving this; their commitment to their own continued professional learning as well as their commitment to the wider school community.

The short-listed candidates (alphabetically) were:

Richard Dalton from St Andrew’s CEVA Primary School, Northampton, Northants

Carl Perry from Fulhurst Community College, Leicester

Joanna Randall from Campion School, Bugbrooke, Northants

Janet Stock from Spire Junior School Chesterfield, Derbyshire

The 2019 East Midlands HLTA of the Year was announced as Carl Perry who will now go on to represent the region at the National HLTA of the Year award in London in November.

Guest speaker, Ken Bland, HLTA Founding Co-ordinator for East Midlands region and Dr. Helen Scott, Dean of Faculty of Education and Humanities presented the awards.
