The skill and commitment of Rutland Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Jane Fenn has been recognised in a national awards ceremony in Westminster.
Jane, who works at Ryhall CE Academy, was judged East Midlands region winner in the annual Outstanding HLTA of the Year award 2017 – one of eight regional winners – and her achievement was acknowledged on Monday 20th November by Johnny Mercer MP.
Plymouth HLTA Rebecca Ward, the South West region winner, was awarded the national title of Outstanding HLTA of the Year 2017.
The award, now in its fifth year, is organised by the HLTA National Assessment Partnership (HNAP), an organisation made up of the four regional assessment providers that work together to manage and quality assure the assessment of standards for HLTAs across England.
They are: Best Practice Network (West Midlands, the South West and East), University of Northampton (East Midlands), Babcock 4S (London and the South East) and HLTA North (North East, North West and Yorkshire and the Humber).
HLTAs are experienced teaching assistants who provide valuable support for teaching and learning. They undertake a wide variety of important roles in schools – some work across the curriculum, some act as specialists for a specific subject, many support planning and delivery of lessons and develop learning resources.
Applications to the 2018 Outstanding HLTA of the Year awards in the East Midlands region open in the spring term of 2018. Further information about the awards and about HLTA programmes is available by emailing HLTA@northampton.ac.uk.
