International Days One and two – Denmark (asynchronous co-lab w/England) 26th of March and 16th of April 2021
The students met with the pupils online in Google meets and started the day with an introduction to the project as well as the plan for the day. The second day the students were physically at school, but the students and lecturers attended through a screen. Luckily, the teachers at the school were very helpful otherwise this is not a good idea.
The first day we looked at the “Window-swap” pictures previously posted by the English pupils and commented and asked questions (Window Swap England – Denmark on a padlet). You can read more about how to use this activity here. Here is an example being recorded.
The second day we had a look at England’s contribution and answered the questions. We are going to use the padlet a third time when the two classes meet online. Here the pupils are going to get a description of a Window Swap and guess who made it.
Both days the class was divided into four groups using breakout-rooms. Each of the Danish students worked with one group of pupils on four different topics:
- Food DLAB
The group worked with BookCreator and the topic at hand was “How do we eat in my family?” The pupils were set the task of creating a comic strip that illustrates meal-time in their home. The second time the Danish pupils were tasked with making a written description of a book created by one of the English pupils. We did not have the English books, so instead, the Danish children made descriptions of a friend’s book.
- Music Dance and music
The pupils worked in Beep-box making small musical compositions. You can hear an example here. The idea was the second time to make a dance for the music. The English children would make a dance for the Danish pupils’ music and vice versa.
- Literature DLAB
This group worked with book reviews. They were tasked with recording a brief introduction to their favourite book and its characters. The second time we would listen to and comment on the contribution from the other country.
- Art
The arts-group played with Tableau Vivant. Making their own interpretations of famous painting with props from their homes. The process was documented with photos. The second time we made the same but with interpretations of English pictures. The purpose was to examine the artist’s ways of expressing their art. See the exhibition in this VR environment on Cospaces.
