In our teaching entrepreneurship, creativity and a reflective attitude are basic attitudes. We offer our students interactive and experimental spaces in which practice and process-orientated work leads to deep learning. We stimulate our students to develop their identity, to be open-minded, to be socially concerned and to pay a lot of attention to democracy, tolerance and sustainability.
In recent years our school has gained a lot of expertise in STEM, CLIL and digital learning. Internationalization is relatively new at our school. Three years ago we got involved in the ambitious DLAB-project. It has been an exited journey with a lot of new insights and experiences both for the teachers as for the students. The international collaboration provided us with new work forms, knowledge and contacts. And last but not least a lot of motivated students who have pushed their limits and enthusiastic teachers who see internationalization as a real gain for our school and education.
At the beginning of this school year I couldn’t imagine how strongly DLAB2 would influence me personally. A former student and meanwhile colleague of mine had an idea that fits perfectly with the changemaker idea of DLAB. She wanted a space where vulnerable young people could get together to get free help and support for their school work. She also thought it was important to organize sports and games activities for them. Meanwhile, 8 months later, ‘Kommerbi’ is a great success. ‘Kommerbi’ works with regular coaches who help and support students. I too am one of those regular ‘coacherbi’s’ and have two students under my care. Because of the informal contact outside school hours and the intense cooperation, you see students flourish and take advantage of opportunities they never thought were possible for them. Changemakers start small and help big dreams come true
