The Bears season so far!

It’s the end of the 2023 part of season and what a season it’s been so far.

To date, the team have racked up four victories and no defeats or losses!

The season kick-started with a visit to the University of Staffordshire where the team came away with a win, the final score being 45-5. It was a confident game for the Bears as the season got underway and saw them start on a winning note.

A week later it was the first home game of the season and the atmosphere was one to remember for the team as they took another victory! This time out was against Harper Adams 3s with the result being 21- 7, making it back-to-back wins for the team.

The Bears’ final game of October was postponed, meaning there was no final away match in October before the team started their series of home games throughout November.

After a week out from matches due to the postponement of the game against Worcester, the team were all set and ready to go as they had their second home game of the season.

The match saw a victory for the guys as they took on Warwick Men’s 3 team with the final score 61-19.

A strong performance from the squad made it three-for-three in victories.

Following multiple successes came an interesting challenge for the squad as their opposition arrived with only 12 players when they played Staffordshire 1s at home.

Dropping down to a 12 v 12 for the first half the Bears were dominant throughout the game.

In the second half of the match, the Bears wanted to play a full game against Staffordshire to be able to implement their training into a match-day fixture.

It was a massive result for the team as they came away with their first clean sheet of the season with a century-plus of points, the full-time result was 102-0.

The next fixture was supposed to be the Conference Cup however, due to a lack of numbers and injuries sustained in the previous week’s match Staffordshire pulled out of the match. The game is set to be rearranged for January.

It was two games of no playing for the Bears, Worcester Men’s was cancelled due to player Adam Thomas injuring his shoulder just moments before the match was about to kick-off.

Poor weather rained on the Bears parade cancelling their away fixture against Warwick, the pitch was flooded and therefore meant another week of no games for the Bears.

After a mixed first few months of the campaign, with plenty of postponements, player shortages and pints, the squad now take a well-earned break for Christmas.
