The NHS and the sustainability agenda

Over the years, I’ve written quite a bit on the issue of the National Health Service (NHS), in the UK and the sustainability agenda. You can see some of these thoughts in my academic publications and my previous blog on sustainability within the NHS.

More recently, I’ve contributed to a newspaper article in the Guardian Newspaper on the NHS and the circular economy, looking very briefly and broadly at how the circular economy principles could help the NHS meet cost and environmental targets. The article was written in conjunction with James Dixon, waste manager and sustainability lead, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Alexandra Hammond, associate director, sustainability, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

James, Alexandra and I will be participating in a panel discussion on the issue at RWM Exhibition in Birmingham, in September, 2014.
