The impact of the Home Learning Environment

Building on my doctoral research, I have begun to explore whether the quality of the Home Learning Environment (HLE) has an impact on the quality of young children’s speech and language. 

By using a slightly adapted version of the rating scale discussed here  https://mypad.northampton.ac.uk/tanyarichardson/speech-and-language/what-makes-a-high-quality-environment/  I have started to explore whether the aspects that are included within the HLE can have an impact on children’s speech and language development.  Alongside a colleague, Prof. Jane Murray, we have embarked on a funded research project (funded through the University of Northampton Innovation and Research Ideas Grant) to explore this area.
