Exploring and Using data

Subject: ICT/Maths

Key Stage: Early Years

Title: Exploring and Using Data

Idea:

We investigated different ways children could use and organise their own data. We worked in partners to individually research and find good websites, apps and sites which you could use. We then came together to discuss which ones we thought were good and easy sites to use for children around the age 4-5. We then thought of a theme and worked around the site we found and incorporate the them into it. We decided on a Winnie The Pooh theme.

The site that I had found which I thought was easy to use, simple but also works well was 2Graph on PurpleMash. You put in your own question as the title and then insert your headings for each categories which we wanted. For us, we wanted Winnie The Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Tiger and Roo.

With this site you can also choose how your graph is show for example here is two different ways which the same data can be shown.

My partner decided to look at www.primaryschoolict.com/pictograph. This is a site which you can enter any name and it will find a picture, this is really good for children this young as they can type in anything that they would like to add, but again to go with our theme we had  Winnie The Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Tiger and Roo. We did the same graphs to see which would be easiest to use and read. We both agreed that this was the best one. Its more appealing with the pictures and font which is used.
