My pedagogy and me…

The relationships and experiences children encounter during their formative years significantly impact upon their future outcomes (Department for Education (DfE), 2012a; Basquill et al.2012).  As a teacher I will play a vital role in ensuring this occurs by striving to improve the quality of pedagogical processes.

Brownlee and Berthelsen (2005) argue that practitioner training should pay more attention to exploring pedagogy, particularly exploring how practitioners’ personal values connect with their theoretical knowledge.   Therefore as practitioners develop a better understanding of themselves this has a positive impact upon practice.
