Welcome to our class blog

We’re excited to be using blogs with you to collect thoughts and discoveries, and we look forward to linking to your individual blogs from here so that we can all share ideas easily. We’ll use this blog to tell you about what’s coming up each week and to record highlights as we go.

Here are some links to get you thinking about using blogs in schools.  Mr Mitchell and Mr Avery’s blogs are good examples.  BrainPOP made a fantastic recording of a group of Year 6 children from Heathfield School:

And here are some of our students talking about their blogs:

In our first session this week we will be looking at recent curriculum changes and thinking about ways teachers can use social networking tools such as blogs in a professional way to promote the sharing of ideas and their classroom work. This will include thinking about introducing eSafety issues when working with young children. We will set up your individual blogs using the free blogging tool on MyPad from the tools block on your Nile homepage. You’ll be able to personalise your blog by choosing from the 137 edublog themes. You might also like to set up a twitter account so that we can share our ideas on the School of Education screens and further afield using the hashtag #unsoe.

In the second half of the session you will be exploring some exciting ideas for art and outdoor learning in our forest school, weather permitting. Your directed task this week will be to use your blog to comment and reflect on this session and think about how you might apply some of these techniques in a classroom.

Here are the slides from our first session:
