Tell me what you want, what you really really want! A student perspective on what should, and should not, be included in open educational videos
Paul Rice
Abstract
Open Educational Resources are being made for students by academics, but do students respond to these resources and are they supplied in the right format? Richter et al., (2012, p171) have argued that “one of the main barriers identified by professionals, policymakers, and learners for (re)using OER is the uncertainty as to whether higher education and adult education resources are appropriate and match the learners’ own educational contexts”. Investigating what makes resources appeal to students, and just as important, examining what disengages students with certain resources, will give an insight to what should, and should not, be included in the production of future educational videos. Therefore the rationale behind this project is to evaluate educational videos from a student’s prospective.Richter, T. & McPherson, M (2012) Open educational resources: education for the world?, Distance Education, 33 (2), pp.201-219
