Calm waters or choppy seas? A survey of students’ views of using NELSON, Northampton’s resource discovery tool
Mike Aynsworth, Wes Homard-Roy and Alan Rosling
Abstract:
NELSON (Northampton Electronic Library Search ONline) is the Library’s current resource discovery tool software. It is a ‘one-stop shop’ service offering easy access to the full range of library online resources. This proprietary software was purchased, in part, because it allows library staff to reconfigure elements of the software in pursuit of an improved student search experience. Using Bristol Online Surveys we created a short survey to elicit student views on using NELSON. This data will be analysed and used to improve our understanding of students’ use of our e-resources and to refine the software towards improving its overall usability.View full abstract [PDF]
