Project Overview

This project aims to investigate the perceptions of the lived experiences for students at UoN who are Deaf/HI to inform increased student progression, and staff use of Active Blended Learning (ABL). International research suggests that Deaf/HI students feel under-supported and under-represented which may result in poor academic outcomes and higher levels of withdrawal (Bell and Swart, 2018). This project seeks to find out Deaf/HI students’ perspectives of what may influence their progression and continuation with their studies and their ABL experiences. The findings will be used to inform the development of training materials for University staff on supporting Deaf/HI students.
