Hello Helen and Bren,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for the incredible opportunity to be a team leader at the Hong Kong summer camp. I had an amazing 5 weeks which I will never forget, developing a range of skills and making lots of memories. My highlight of the trip was hosting the 2-hour talent show at St Paul’s Convent school which the students thoroughly enjoyed watching/ participating including getting all the teachers to perform the song ‘reach for the stars’ which the students loved watching.
From looking at the feedback forms a lot of students from the schools said that they really enjoyed the fashion show, just dance, talent show (St Paul’s convent school) and STEM activities. I completed the STEM activities with the secondary schools- bridge building, tower building, catapult building which worked really well, even sometimes with 70 students altogether. There was also positive feedback about the rotation of teachers, one student said ‘I think switching class is a wonderful way to learn more new things’ and also the teachers preferred this method too as it allowed them to develop their knowledge of that subject as well as get to know the other classes.
I have attached the videos created for each closing ceremony, my teams’ end of the trip video which was shared at the presentation ceremony as well as a lip sync video we produced for St Paul’s convent school closing ceremony. The students loved watching the lip sync video and gave massive rounds of applause when all the English team appeared on the screen.
I have also attached a document that Rebekka and I have created regarding team leader roles, teacher roles and a recommended list of items to bring. We thought this document would be useful for everyone to develop an understanding of what to expect on future trips. Please feel free to add, change and adapt parts.
Thank you once again for the amazing opportunity,
