Captain exits whilst whole squad struggle!

The Captain of Heyford Athletic Reserves Will Dunkley leaves the club after “embarrassing” team performance last weekend.

This comes after the reserves lost 5-0 at home to Woodford Wolves First on Saturday afternoon.

“Will is a fantastic player and of course we don’t want to lose him, we understand his frustration but if he does not want to stay then we cannot force him to,

“I have seen him play both on a Saturday and a Sunday and he definitely plays better on a Sunday with Hawks.” Says Sam O’Sullivan Barker.

The club will now look for a new captain and is expected to be announced before the game next weekend.

Goal of the year 2023

There were many options for the goal of the year candidate for Heyford Athletic Reserves with some absolute cracking strikes out there this year but only one could take the prize.

Shadrack Olaloko cracking finish from close range against Great Doddington first in the 7-1 loss.

James Thomas Mabbutt first strike against Higham Town Reserves great team goal finished off by James in the 6-2 loss.

Godstime Obilor-Dike amazing strike from just outside the box gave Heyford the lead against Woodford Wolves and looked to have given Heyford the perfect start.

Shaquille Stephens’s amazing free kick against Weldon United Reserves in the cup, Shaquille struck the dead ball with so much power that the keeper even at full stretch could not save the ball from flying into the top corner in the 9-1 loss.

and the winner is:

Shaquille Stephens’s amazing free kick against Weldon and technique from Stephens is what have won him this wonderful award for Heyford this year, and now he is the moment you lot have been waiting for the beautiful goal itself.
