1. The Group’s 2017 sustainable food waste management conference
The Group’s 2017 conference which is sponsored by Sharpsmart and Olleco, will be held on Thursday October 5, at the Northampton Town’s football ground in Sixfields, Northampton.
Speakers will include:
Sarah Wakefield from the Co-op. Sarah’s work as food sustainability manager is split into three pillars – responsible sourcing of ingredients, low resource-use manufacturing and sustainable customer choice. Her aim is to make responsible business work for people throughout the supply chain and conserve our natural resources, to ensure we have delicious healthy food choices in the future. The Co-op is the UK’s largest consumer co-operative and as a member owned ethical business has often led the way in these areas.
Vanessa Kelly who is the Executive Officer of the Northamptonshire Waste Partnership. Vanessa works on behalf of the Districts, Boroughs and County Council of Northamptonshire as they work collaboratively to manage waste in a sustainable manner to meet the current and future needs of the Northamptonshire Communities. Her presentation will outline the work undertaken by the authorities of Northamptonshire, individually and as a Partnership to tackle and make best use of the food waste generated by householders in the county. This will include the measures taken to reduce food waste, details of the food waste collection services offered and the government funded food waste incentive scheme which the Partnership launched in 2015. Vanessa will provide details of the work which has been done to promote and encourage these services and the results which have been achieved.

2. Carbon Trust to run £9.2m industrial energy efficiency initiative
The four-year Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator (IEEA) aims to lower costs and increase the number of available energy efficient technologies for a range of industrial sectors, through demonstration of energy-saving near to market innovations. Co-funding of between £150,000 and £1 million is available to technology developers and industrial companies.

3. Innovate UK funded workshops for low-carbon organisations
The Business Growth Hub of Innovate UK has put together a tailored programme of masterclasses designed to suit leaders, owners and managers of busy, small companies working in or supplying to the low carbon or environmental sector. The fully funded classes are designed to provide businesses with practical advice, case studies and take home tools which can be implemented immediately in their business.

5. NHS Digital destruction and disposal of sensitive data
