1.£10m funding for innovative approaches to a low carbon built environment

Government has launched a grant scheme to invest up to £10 million to develop technologies that reduce the carbon emissions associated with providing heat and hot water to UK buildings. Innovative technologies, processes and tools are eligible for support and applicants may apply for a grant of £200,000 –  2 million.

Applications should be submitted by 2 January 2018.

2. Organisations required for the Group’s student experience programme

The Group is looking for organisations that would be willing to support a student for its ‘2-day work experience’ programme. The programme is now in its third year, and previously has been undertaken with various organisations including SRCL, Bywaters and Grundon, with positive feedback both from the students and the organisations. It offers the opportunity to facilitate the entry of students/future employees into the sector. The expenses for the student’s travel, accommodation and subsistence will be paid by the Group, using monies generated from its seminars. 3. Procter & Gamble launches plastic bottles made of PCR and ocean plastics

The Procter & Gamble (P&G) Company recently launched the Fairy Ocean Plastic bottle made completely from post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic and ocean plastic. The launch of the bottle aims to raise awareness of the issue of ocean plastic and what can be done to prevent plastic waste from reaching the ocean.

4. Identification holes to help visually impaired to recycle

Different coloured wheelie bins for waste and recycling can work for most people, but they are not an effective aid for people with a visual impairment.
