A successful bid…

What fantastic news! Having invested some effort to gather some scattered but quality thinking that has been gathering momentum for a year or so we have made a successful bid for funding from the Learning Innovation Fund.

Our proposal is to provide opportunities for students to apply and synthesise theoretical knowledge within community based projects; supporting the universities values of social impact, Changemaker+ challenges and enhancing students’ employability skills.

We hope to:

  1. Develop opportunities of collaborative learning that makes a genuine contribution to our local community.
  2. Identifying opportunities to embed this real life learning within the BSc (Hons) degree in Occupational Therapy modular framework to support specific learning outcomes.
  3. Develop Waterside ready teaching and learning strategies for developing professional skills that can be embedded at the forthcoming PSR.
  4. Broaden, strengthen and deepen partnerships within our local community to enhance social capital for all concerned.

We will be working with Mission Motorsport, Singing 4 Breathing and Kibworth Primary School to offer our OT students opportunities to donate their time to OT initiatives with each of these organisations.

Events and reflections to follow…
