Literature review Communities of Study-t5ii09

The literature review identified key themes which informed our understanding of the elements which influenced student perceptions of the value of sharing experiences. It identified some of the commentary around the significance of developing a sense of community of study for those whose opportunities to meet face to face with other students is limited and the potential sense of distance that can arise where students are also involved in work-based practice and the potential for this to limit opportunities for collaboration and discussion on campus. The literature review explores how environments for learning, encouragement of co-production and networked learning can positively influence the development of high quality communication amongst peers. Issues around the management of time, student focus and student autonomy in developing communities of study are explored.
