Centre Lead – Alison Hulme

Dr Alison Hulme is an Associate Professor of International Development/Global Studies and Director of the China and Emerging Economies Centre at the University of Northampton. She has published widely, including three books – On the Commodity Trail (Bloomsbury), A Brief History of Thrift (Manchester University Press) and Entangled Things (Bloomsbury). She is currently working on a fourth, provisionally entitled On Loneliness and Conviviality, which explores the way in which industrialized societies have developed and the potential positive impact of conviviality on socio-economic challenges. Her work sits at the interface of economic and social development and consumptive practices, with a particular interest in alternative development pathways and practices.

Prior to entering academia Alison was a radio and TV presenter for many years.

 

Deputy Centre Lead – Adrian Pryce

Adrian Pryce is an Associate Professor in Strategy & International Business and Deputy Director of the China and Emerging Economies Centre at the University of Northampton, UK. With a career spanning banking, travel & tourism, food & drink, speciality chemicals as well as academia and not for profit sectors, Adrian has 30 years’ international business development experience across Europe, Asia and the Americas. He holds an MBA from IESE, Barcelona, is fluent in Spanish, and is a Director of S3UK Ltd, the UK arm of the strategic sourcing solutions Group S3 which has 20 years experience in facilitating commercial links between China and Europe. A published author, in 2017 Adrian was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant (DL) of Northamptonshire (an honorary non-military State appointment) for services to charity and business. He plays a leading role oi CEEC’s regional collaboration strategy forging links between Northamptonshire and key Chinese cities and provinces.
