The University of Northampton is one of the youngest universities in the UK but we are already leading the way in adding value to society, which we call social impact. We have won multiple awards for our work in this area, among others, but what matters the most to us is ensuring that our students and graduates have the opportunity to make their mark on the world too. That’s why we were the first university in the UK to be named as a Changemaker Campus in 2012.
We want to break the mould of what Higher Education can be. This has led us to build a whole new University from the ground up that is designed to reflect the way that students actually learn rather than the way they are expected to learn. Our brand new Waterside Campus opened in September 2018 and you can access our virtual campus walkthrough by clicking here.
As one of the few universities to be ranked Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), we know that sharing knowledge, supporting creativity and striving to make a positive difference will change the future. What motivates us is the drive to help people make the changes that will transform their lives.

Events, Tourism and Hospitality Subject Area at UoN
The Events, Tourism & Hospitality subject group sits within the University’s Faculty of Business & Law and offers a small portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in events management, tourism management, tourism development and hotel management. We pride ourselves in our innovative teaching and learning, having adopted the University’s student-centred active blended learning approach. Our events, tourism and hotel management programmes are taught mostly in small workshop format and our students have the opportunity to work on a range of practical assessments which prepare them for entry into their industry sector of choice. We are proud to also be collaborating with Otolo, the new networking platform for the hospitality industry, to provide our students and graduates with access to a strong network of industry contacts who can support their further development through mentoring activities.
