Librarian to… world domination. How collaborative working accidentally created a MOOC (and a SPOC!)

Abstract:
“Fancy creating a MOOC, Kate?”Er….not really….but that’s exactly what the CfAP team did in 2013!
This presentation will outline the process of accidently creating a MOOC – all the highs and lows as well as how the team worked collaboratively to ensure its success. The process of transforming a face to face taught module into a blended and then 100% online course will be outlined and a detailed explanation to each stages and the hurdles overcome by the team will also be examined.

Presenter: Kate Littlemore
Kate is the Head of the Centre for Achievement and Performance (CfAP) within Library and Learning Services at the University of Northampton. In this role she manages a team of academic practice tutors as well as developing the work of the Centre.
For over 10 years she worked as a chartered librarian in a variety of settings such as: FE and HE; Public Libraries and Corporate Institutions. In the last few years Kate has given papers are at variety of conferences: the Blackboard International Learning and Teaching Conference; ALDinHE; and ALT-C.
Kate is a chartered librarian and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
